CookingGrubHub Tries the 3 Ingredient Scone Recipe
I have to admit when I see a scone recipe I have to try it.
One recipe that had intrigued me was the 3 ingredient one.
I’ve always used butter, sugar and well the list goes on.
As well as liking scones, I also like simplicity in the kitchen so I decided I’d give this one a try.
If you Google three ingredient scone or scone made with lemonade lots of them pop up. So take your pick.
Basically it’s self raising flour, whipping cream and soda that’s Sprite or something similar.
So here’s my review-
They are easy to make, they produce a lovely flaky scone, they make a lot, the freeze well and as for taste?
I expected them to be sweeter because of the Sprite but that wasn’t the case.
I enjoyed mine cut in half with whipped cream and blueberry jam.
Because they’re neither savory or sweet I’m thinking of using the additional ones to put on top of a pot pie in place of pastry. I think they’d soak up additional gravy and be delicious. I’ll let you know in a future post how the scone topped pot pies work out.
And here’s a quick tip for you want to whip cream without the hassle of pulling out the mixer.
Fill a Mason or other jar half way with whipping cream, put the top on and shake, shake shake…hey didn’t that used to be a song?
It’s a great work out for your arms and probably works off some of the calories you’re going to indulge in by consuming the whipped cream.
It seems like it couldn’t possibly work but keep on shaking and pretty soon you have perfectly whipped cream.
Let me know if you try the scone recipe and what you think of the new way to whip cream?
