Peeling Garlic and Getting Rid of the Smell
I add garlic to dishes even if the recipe doesn’t call for it. It not only adds lots of flavor, it’s also good for you, especially during cold and flu season.
There are two drawbacks to using it. Peeling it can be downright frustrating and you’re often left with hands that smell like garlic.
Here’s a tip from the pros that works every time…
Lay the garlic clove flat on a hard surface and then press down hard on it with the flat side of a large knife.
You’ll know you’ve pressed hard enough when hear a “pop” which tells you the peel has separated from the actual clove.
And getting rid of the garlic smell is as easy as rubbing salt into your fingertips and then washing them with soap and water.
