Baked Apples-A Simple Dessert-Three Ingredients
I know apple season is over but I had four sitting in a bowl so I thought what can I do with them?
I wanted something that was easy to make and didn’t require too many other ingredients.
Even better if I could cook it in my slow cooker.
A perfect match is a baked apple.
They are simple to make…
Core the apples and I like to peel off the top half of the skin but that’s optional.
Add them to a slow cooker
Mix together about 1/3 cup of sweetened dried cranberries and a tablespoon of chopped crystallized ginger and pack it into each apple core.
Pour in enough water just to cover the very bottom part of each apple and cook on low for about two hours or on high for two hours.
They’re tasty on their own but delicious topped with whipped cream. Watch as the cream melts and drips down the side of the apples.
If, and yes, that’s a big if, you have any leftover, chop them up and serve them on top of your morning oatmeal.
I’d love to hear what you think, leave a comment if you give this simple recipe a try.
